About the Role

Job Purpose:
To ensure all welding and related activities are performed in full compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client specifications. The Production Engineer – Welding will be responsible for driving the development and implementation of technical and technological solutions that enhance production efficiency, quality, and safety. The role also involves leading and coordinating work teams to deliver outputs in line with contractual, regulatory, and company requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
Ensure welding processes and procedures comply with relevant codes, standards (e.g., AWS, ASME), class rules, and client requirements.

Provide technical support and solutions related to welding, fabrication, and material selection for shipbuilding, ship repair, and offshore construction projects.

Oversee the execution of welding and related processes to meet project timelines and quality standards.

Lead continuous improvement initiatives by updating yard welding processes in line with best practices and emerging technologies.

Interpret welding procedure specifications (WPS), design drawings, and vendor data to ensure correct application on the shop floor.

Support quality control activities by ensuring proper documentation, process monitoring, and traceability throughout production.

Collaborate with planning and design teams to optimize workflow and resource allocation.

Supervise and mentor welding teams to achieve high levels of performance and skill development.

Ensure compliance with Integrated Management System (IMS) procedures and statutory requirements.

Support audits and inspections by internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:
Degree or Diploma in Welding, Metallurgical, or Mechanical Engineering.

AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) and/or CSWIP certification is mandatory.

Strong knowledge of international welding codes and classification society rules.

Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a lead welding role within shipbuilding, ship repair, or offshore fabrication environments.

Hands-on experience with various welding methods (SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, etc.) and materials (carbon steel, stainless steel, alloys).

Familiarity with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and mechanical testing techniques.
